Little did I know that a single set of cow glasses would grow into a whole herd someday… but I guess I should start at the beginning…
Eleven years ago, my oldest son Chris and my daughter Michelle bought me a set of four drinking glasses with black and white cows on them. They were decorated with a border of pink and blue hearts. I decided to start collecting cows because of those ador-a-bull glasses. To this day I still have one in a very special place in my china cabinet.
We moved into a new place and I decorated my kitchen with a cow motif and the fever started getting out of control. Every cow I saw just needed a good home and whom better to  give it that home? ME!
Now to the best part… I started dating a guy with the last name Moos. Six months later we were married and I decided to have fu  with the name; everyone else was so why not me? I had heard every cow pun imaginable since I became engaged and decided if I couldn't beat 'em I'd join 'em, as the saying goes . Yeas it's really my last name! Not a birthday or holiday goes by without me getting some sort of cow present. But the best thing I got that started the fever to intensify was my first Mary's Moo Moos, "Buttercream Wishes". It was a Gift from my Mother-in-law and if she only knew what she was starting! I couldn't pass up a Hallmark of a gift shop for fear that I would also pass up a prized MMM. About a year and a half ago I met Jan Visgak, one of our Moo Hunt Club members, and we helped each other complete our MMM collections.
The rest is history as I then met up with Deb Foltyn and we formed the Moo Pals, later to be re-named "The Moo Hunt Club"
The joke around here is that Dave ( my hubby) is the biggest cow in my Cow-lection. He almost lost his title to "The Big One", affectionately called "Howie". Just need to "beef" him up a little! Speaking of my Cow-lection… I now have over 800 cows including all but two of the Mary's Moo Moos. My wish is to someday own the Plush Santa Cow and the Ceramic Lotion Dispenser (This piece was added to Carrie's cow-lection since this article was originally published) My youngest son Rich even likes the way I decorated "his" bathroom ...cows and all. He loves me to tell the story about the day he left the front door wide open in the middle of the winter. I said "close the door, were you born in a barn?" To which he replied, "just look at this place and you tell me!" Amongst  the barns and the cows all I could do is laugh! He wasn't born in a barn but has been raised in one , so to speak.
I have a particular fondness for the "Bovine Beauty" I use to call my daughter "Missy Moo Moo" when she was small and when I came upon this piece it brought back some great memories for me. You see the little girl that bought my first cow never got to see how "cow crazy" Mom got to be, as she passed away that same year. I can just see her now rolling her eyes and shaking her head and saying "why did I do this?" There have been many other MMM figurines that remind me of her and of several other family members or events in my life. I'm sure most of you can relate to that! Now you know how I got started and what transformed this perfectly quiet home into a moo-seum!
Happy 1st Anniversary Moo Hunt Club and Happy Cow-lecting to all the wonderful Moo Pals and moo-velous friends I made this past year! It has been a pleasure "meeting" you and sharing a part of your lives
