mum number of orders to warrant production. This minimum is a "magic number" which varies per production. If an item is popular with the development team, the number of pre-orders is lower. If it gets an average response then the "Magic number" is higher. This procedure also applies to items that are seasonal as Christmas figurines do not sell well in the spring. One other factor is "negative feedback" from the public. An example of negative feedback was the factor that determined the cancellation of the Christmas pageant series (A Child is a Gift of Perfect Joy). They had numerous complaints about cows representing Mary and Joseph.
Very rarely do they send out a letter or card stating that an item has been
"sold out" due to heavy demand. Several of us received a letter stating that the MMM Cowbell Ornaments has been sold out. This was in error and the notification should have stated "regretfully, we must inform you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, this item will not be produced". These were not produced!
Hamilton wanted me to convey a message to the Moo Hunt Club members that they "care about the collectors and therefore run multiple programs to get it right". They "dry test" the product through a lottery system. For instance, if they have 10,000 people who ordered Mary's Moo Moos from them, they will randomly select every 5th person to send a flyer to when a new product is being considered for production. That means that only 2,500 people have received the information and production is based on the number of pre-orders from that mailing. Now we know why only a few members receive the flyers and brochures. Hamilton is going to be sure I receive all the information so we can pass it onto the club. That being said, it is still necessary for everyone to watch for "moo sitings" as we know Hamilton's track record.
Last but not least…if a series sales has slowed down after production has started then they will not produce the complete series. Unlike Enesco, they order items one at a time and not by series. Therefore, some series may only have 2 or 3 figurines as opposed to the 8 or 10 described in their promotional flyers.
We'll have an update on the status of each series next month. She is working on getting that information to us as soon as possible.

Now the GOOD NEWS - Moo-re Moos!
Here's a list of some of the series they are working on this year.
Carousel Series - Cows riding farm equipment
Grand Old Jamboree - Using the "Grand ole Opry theme
A-moo-ican Pride - More contemporary -
Cow at old sewing machine sewing a flag (Betsy Ross theme)
Boy riding tricycle with girl cow on back waving a flag
Got Milk Series - Barn Raising - Stockyard 500 (soap box derby)
Family Reunion - Nostalgic - Grandma with wallet open showing pictures
The newest series that can be ordered at this time is the
"Welcome to the County Fair" plate collection and the "Happy Campers" series. The first one is called "Come Moo And All", followed by "Homemade With Love For Moo", "Mooey Treats for One And All" and "Flying High With Moo By My Side". There will be a total of eight plates. Remember to place your orders as soon as possible so we can meet the "pre-order requirement". Shipping usually takes anywhere from 10-12 weeks after we find out about new releases.

  WHY DON'T MOO PALS COOK?
It has come to our conclusion that "Moo Pals" don't cook! Actually, we do have a small contingency of members who sound like pretty good cooks and shared some of their favorite recipes with us.
Unfortunately it wasn't enough to warrant the printing of a "Moo Hunt Club" cookbook for this years fundraiser. We've had to put this idea on the back burner (no pun intended) and may try it again at a later date. If you come across a fab-moo-lous recipe and can't wait to share it, feel free to email it to Carrie and Deb for future consideration. Thank you to everyone who sent us a recipe!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
If you missed last months chat, you missed a good one. We had a record turnout! Mark you calendars for the next monthly "Moo Hunt Club" chat on Saturday, April 20th at 7 pm Eastern time. Neko set up this new chat site and it is working out great! Thanks Neko!!!
